Beautiful Affair

A chair sat stiffly by the fire,
It felt the warmth but no desire
Still I longed to touch your mouth
My wooden arm tried to reach out

Single lives and single fates
All connected in one way
Life can sober up this love
Life looks tiny from above

And it could have been such a beautiful affair
But you were late and I was stuck somewhere
With our hands untied would you like to take a share
Oh it could have been such a beautiful affair

So we ambush in the dark,
Our weary minds, our anxious hearts,
Heat is something to embrace
Slowly, slowly not with haste.

As I sit a little stiff
I feel it’s better to resist
The lick of passion, the burning scar
For my own internal fire

And it could have been such a beautiful affair
But you were late and I was stuck somewhere
With our hands untied would you like to take a share
Oh it could have been such a beautiful affair
