Beatie Wolfe Explores The Art Of Music In The Digital Age: We Talk To Her Ahead Of Her V&A Exhibition

Singer songwriter and artist Beatie Wolfe has been described by VICEas a “Musical Weirdo and Visionary”, while the BBC has hailed her live performances as “a profound delivery of depth and soul”.

Lisa had the opportunity to speak with Beatie ahead of her exhibition ‘The Art Of Music In The Digital Age’, currently open until Sunday September 23 at the Victoria and Albert Museum, London. A free exhibit, its aim is to show the links between music and technology, with Beatie’s goal to restore the tactile-ness of music we seem to have lost in this age streaming.

She bridges the physical and digital, and re-imagines the musical experience, including her musical jacket, which you can listen to using your phone, a theatre in the palm of your hand, and an album portrayed as a deck of cards. The piece de resistance is the Raw Space Chamber, which allows visitors to enter an anechoic chamber, and fully immerse themselves into a complete listening experience, with AR animations in real time bringing both the album’s artwork and lyrics to life.

The exhibiton is part of London Design Festival at the V&A, and Beatie will be in attendance every day, with a special musical performance on Sunday.
