Little Moth

I’ve waited so long to find you
I'm holding this flame beside me
And they'll never see you like I do
But darling I see you clearly

in your basement hotel
where you soared
where you fell
and the harsh light of truth
left you blinded in the sun
but you wrote what you felt
the rare joy, the fine hell
you couldn’t lie, you left it bare
and tattooed your despair
and tattooed your despair

They waited so long, to put you in a box
But nothing can break your spirit
They tried to change you, until you made them stop
And now you’re so high above it

Cos if beauty’s skin deep
you had to see what’s beneath
so you scratched in your sleep
seeing voices in your dreams
and they told you its hard
when you’re flung in this world
tender hands turn to fists
til you’re beautifully scarred
you're beautifully scarred

My little moth
you’re too precious for this world
but I’ll keep my wings around you
I hope you hear me, hear my thank you
heaven is blessed to have you

For in the shadows you grew
it was clear no one knew
just how sharp every breath
felt to draw and rattled through
but the light that you shone
it will always burn on
you served the world my little moth
at the sake of yourself
at the sake of yourself

The Man Who

He sat for hours but nothing came
Too few songs and too much fame
So he broke his guitar strings and threw his body to the earth
This was his grave if he couldn’t play

He remembered how it felt to have a woman’s kiss
With dope in his pocket and his heart in his fist
And it took someone to tell you, you can’t go on like that
And it took someone to tell you, this was not right

So he called up his friends and he wept goodbye
And he wove himself a noose out of rope and wire
But it was ok because he’d realised just in time
That his balloon could go no higher

And he looked at his hands as he fell to his knees
And he tried to pray but he couldn’t breath
And it took someone to tell you, this was your fate
And it took someone to tell you, you couldn’t be great

Now the rain falls on the floor like tears in June
And it’s washing off the blood like tears in June

As the dawn broke it lit up his face
And there he lay in all of his grace
And the crows were silent, because his body was the earth
And they took flight for another case
And when everybody heard, they ran to see the man
who was rotting in spite of his faith

Now the rain falls on the floor like tears in June
And it’s washing off the blood like tears in June
And it’s beating on the ground like tears in June
And it’s drowning out the sound like tears in June

Now the rain falls on the floor like tears in June
And it’s washing off the blood like tears in June
And it’s beating on the ground like tears in June
And it’s drowning out the sound like tears in June

Pure Being

Turn off the light, come over here
Don’t you want to see what it looks like in darkness?
Close all the windows, shut the door,
don’t you want to hear what it sounds like in silence?

Hold out your hand and turn it round,
Don’t you want to feel what it feels like to touch you?
Close your eyes and shut your mouth
I want to see what it looks like to see you.

We’ve been lying here so long
We’ve been feeling this so long

I think this could be something new, just being me, just being you.

Take off your clothes and let it go
Don’t you want to feel what it feels like to be you
Cos god I do
I’ll turn off the clock and let it grow
I wanna know how long it takes to know you..

Remember the words that we would say
Doesn’t it feel better to forget them?
And all of the words we could not say
Aren’t you now forgetting to regret them

We’ve been lying here so long
We’ve been feeling this so long

I think this could be something new, just being me, just being you
I think this could be something new, just being me, just being you

GimMe Some Love

Father dear
Has it come to this?
Colder than frozen tears
Your love for me, your love for me

All my life
Spent waiting so patiently
Beside you so loyally
But what did you give? What did you give?

And now I see
Staring right back at me
The rancour of jealousy
Mocking its prey, mocking its prey

Will you just give me some Love?
Give me some love
With all of your heart – all of your heart

Will you just give me some Love?
Give me some love
With all of your heart – all of your heart

Father why – did you flat deny
The love that is rightly mine
As a babe, as your child

Like an ache
that dulls with each passing day
So will I slip away
From your reign, from this pain

And so to rise
The truth that was locked inside
The love that you compromised
Lives in me, lives in me!

Let me just give you some Love
Give you some love
With all of my heart
All of my heart

Let me just give you some Love
Give you some love
With all of my heart
All of my heart

Cos I love you
Yes I love you
Lord I love you
Yes I do, Yes I do

Cos I love you
Oh I love you
Yes I love you
Lord I do, oh I do

Oh oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh
[Fade]

Oh Darling

Oh Darling I
Will confess you are quite a find

But oh darling I
Sometimes struggle with my wilful mind

Cos I used to feel love being so unattached
And once they were hung up I would never look back
With fire in my nature I would scold all the moths
But your love is making me soft

Oh darling, what now?
Distant hurts when it makes us doubt
And oh darling, it’s strange
To lose the trust in a moment’s rage

Because we only just met, maybe three months ago
And now you're away and it is covered in snow
And it’s good to be faithful, but the bed is so cold
But your love is making me grow

Oh darling, confess
These nights pass like some unholy test

But oh darling its best,
To see through love that our hearts are blessed

Cos I know that I’ve known you for so many lives
And I’ll live with the secret if you'll make up the time
And clutching you so gently I will love every bit
And open this heart to commit

Cos I know that I’ve known you for so many lives
And I’ll live with the secret if you'll make up the time
And clutching you so gently I will love every bit
And open this heart to commit
Yes I'll open this heart to commit
Yes I'll open this heart to commit

Broken Bird

Like a broken bird
Who never learnt to fly
You needed love
In order to survive
So she came to you
and took you under her wing
And she gave you hope
And taught you how to sing

But soon these melodies
Became your jealousy

Cos nothing would hold you back
Nothing could steer you away
From tearing apart
All that she made

Nothing would hold you back
Nothing could temper your rage
From tearing apart
All that she made… for you
She gave to you

Little broken bird
Where does your pain begin?
Was it born in you
Or did you learn it from your kin?
No bird soars too high if he
Soars with his own wings
But she bore your weight
Until you caught the wind

So may your heart stay strong
While you hear this song

Cos nothing will hold me back
Nothing will get in my way
From flying so high
From having my day

Nothing will hold me back
Nothing will get in my way
I’m lighter without
All your bullshit today

Nothing can hold me back
Nothing can get in my way
And I’ll prove you wrong
I’ll prove you wrong

Nothing can hold me back
Nothing can get in my way
And I’ll prove you wrong
I’ll prove you wrong

Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh....

As You

Take the last bit of cake
I’m breaking this bread
to toast to you

The summer behind
I fell back to this shabby earth
but the city seemed new

We collided that night
the Magic disguised
It was not sensational,
but that’s how it grew.

This just has to be as lovely as you
This just has to be as cool
This just has to be as awesome as you
This just has to be as cool

’ll make my last leap for space -
you’re breaking my will
- and holding me still

At 7am, the thump of the club still beating in the street
the siren calls and white noise.
With chaos around, surrounded by sound, could not silence the question you asked of me
As I kissed your face
And said

This just has to be as lovely as you
This just has to be as cool
This just has to be as awesome as you
This just has to be as cool.

This just has to be as lovely as you
This just has to be as cool
This just has to be as awesome as you
This just has to be as cool
This just has to be as cool.

How Can I

How can I ever know you?
When I’m afraid of myself
How can I hope to hold you?
When I am trembling as well

How can I ever love you?
When I don’t know what it means
How can I hope to heal you?
When I’m distressed at the seams

But in the depth of the night
Your light is strong
And I can see it so clear
I’m not alone
And though I’m shaking inside
You take me on
Until I’m safe by your side
The other side of…

How can I speak the truth dear?
When they teach you to lie
How can I hold my faith dear?
When there’s so much to deny

How can I breathe in deeply?
When my chest is so tight
How can I smile sweetly?
When there’s more wrong than right

But in the depth of the night
Your light is strong
And I can see it so clear
I’m not alone

And though I’m breaking inside
You take me on
Until I’m safe by your side
The other side of

And though I’m breaking inside
You take me on
Until I’m safe by your side
The other side of fear
The other side of fear
The other side of...
