James Mullinger: When GQ first witnessed folk singer-songwriter Beatie Wolfe in London's St. Pancras, she enraptured us with her smoky, captivating melodies about love and loss. Unsurprisingly, it transpires, Leonard Cohen is a fan (in fact, one of her repertoire's stand-outs is a bold re-working of his "A Thousand Kisses Deep"). Updating traditional sounds with lyrical snapshots of modern life, she continues to innovate with her new album, 8ight, which has not only been released on vinyl but also as a 3D interactive tablet app, giving her music videos the multidimensional treatment without - thank goodness - call for special glasses. » read more

G.J. wrote: "Beatie Wolfe is one of the most exciting voices in British music. Her powerful vocals, retro medleys and lyrics make her sound instantly recognizable...her debut album 8ight is rich, smooth, velvety – yes, it sounds like a fine claret, but somehow that’s an apt comparison. It’s so full-bodied it’s practically 3D." » read more
